The new pc is fabulous. This bit of hardware really is worth the money. I finished putting all the parts together in time and had a great time this weekend, spending it with friends and some good old computer gaming. Rather.. the good old games were rather new ones. I downloaded the crysis demo for a test and played this first level at a 1920x1200 with all settings to high and that thing just rendered the whole bit in more then 50 fps average without making a single sound - noise that is
We played a lot of Supreme COmmander Forged Alliance, that I snagged on my way home for 10 Euro at Saturn and also reinstalled Gothic3. I love the Gothic series a lot. I played through the Gothic 1 universe 4 times and 3 times through Gothic2. Sadly I never was able to finish Gothic 3 - even if I tried. it simply was too slow to play that game as a slideshow. But now I am able to play it with al settings the highes and it runs with no frame droppings or less then 45 fps all the time. This really is fun playing it again like this. grins
Currentls I already have freed Reddock, visited and freed Kap Dun and am at the moment in Montera, where I am hekping the rebels out. And I sure have my flaming Sword from the blacksmith in Reddock again Great bastard that yields a 100 damage and only costs 900 gold.

Today, when I drove to work and passed out towns entrance, where they were building new industry houses, I suddenlty realized that we now have out own Burgerking in the town They secretly bul that housing there under another building carrier and finally about two days ago seem to have put the neon signs up and installed all the interiour. So I guess this weekend they will open already... ponders We'll see what it brings... nice "free vouchers" or more trash and litter into the streets, as well as more rioting youths.

The new PC... well its final now that I will get myself a new PC. And those will be new selected parts I buy and assemble. I wanted a reliable, silent and not extremely top of the art pc, that is able to handle all software and work processes I need and is also able to take a good load of actual game graphics and fast rendering hardware. The most important point for me was that it needed to be absolutely silent.... and guess what... I hope it will work
- Intel Core2Quad Q9550 4x2,88GHz at 12MB L1 Cache and 75WThe CPU is one of the rather middle range parts for it is the still fastest and most accurate one that still is able to take 71°C and only needs 75Watt power in full load. Qualifying it for a fanless heatsink solution. Read a nice comparison here: Test of Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs
- Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R
Being the seemingly only Mainboard that supoerts ECC ram with that stepping as well as being power saving sensitive and passively cooled this was the first choice for th basis of the pc. Take a look at the manufacturers website Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R
- DDR3 4GB
Memory was a necessary part to be 4GB as well as ECC enabled, fast ram. So the choice for price fell to this one, CL9 PC3-10667 with 1333MHz clocking.
- Hitachi Ultrastar 1TB and OCZ Solid State Drive 32GB
Those are the base for the software. The OS and essential drivers and programs will go to the SSD drive, so that or normal operation, mail, net, office and so on, no rotatig hard disk is needed... and thusfor no nose generated at all Also making a rather fast basedrive with 143MB/s read and 93MB/s write. Read a review at Tom's hardware guide
- ASUS EN9600gt silent/htdi PCI2 2.0
Good performance, yet with no active coling that creates noise... This one is simply 0dB as it is passively cooled and still yealds a huge game and graphic performance Take a look here Review of the passively colled GPU
- Thermaltake Sonic Tower Rev2
Wanting a real compleately silent PC, sure I need a passively cooled CPU heatsink. This one was the best and most efficient found in many reviews. Looks interesting Well.. have a look for yourself Test on "Ich bin leise"
Hope everything will fit together and work out as planned and imagined. And I also want to give a huge hugle and big big thankies to my husky Tillikum, who helped me a lot.. well... not to be honest, he not only helped he did nearly all that was needed and supported me a great deal. Thank you

Well... sure an art update - yet sadly not about art that I drew, but rather art I have. I finally took the opportunity and took a few photos of newly framed images. But let me start at the beginning. For a birthday present I got a wonderful image form Pegasus and an image from Pan. I ordered a new Frame and Passepartou at the artstore specially cut an build for the image of pegasus so to underline the image and colors in there. Pans image already had a wonderful fitting frame around it. Thank you, you two for those marvellous presents. I look at them every day. ( no joke ! ) Here they are, one hanging over my piano and the other one hanging over my couch. Sadly the quality of my cellphone camera isn't the best, so please don't look at the bad quality of the photos taken, rather then the beautiful images.
The other specially made frames and passepartouts were for three other images I got at Eurofurence 14 this year. This is two images rom LoupGarou and one form Blotch. The one from loupGarou, with the female, blueish waterdragoness I wanted to have for 2 years now, but was unable to get it at last years art sale. But this year I got it So it hangs nicely over my sideboard in my buero and looks nicely down on me. The other one, called "Pedas" form loupGarou I also bought, because I really liked the coloring and the vibrand hues this image has. Great idea in the image as well. This one also got a special frame and resides over the boardcase in the living room.
And last, but definitely not least is the tiger from blotch. Its the image that went into the wild animal's card game deck in bigger format. This image has so much in it... so beautiful colors, the eyes and the expression... I could look at it for hours no end. I guess I fell in love with those eyes It surely got a special frame with double color passepartout to underline the colors in it. I still am not happy with the place where I hung it, as it has no lamp directly for the image and it is indirectly illuminated. But that place is the one where I am able to look at the most... but still... it would gain so much more quality if it woul hand at a specially lit place. I guess I have to swap a lot of images again
